It’s Milan, baby. We’re hurtling through the fashion week circuit to arrive on the streets of the Italian fashion capital, where heritage designer brands and luxury houses will come forth with their propositions for fall. As with every Milan Fashion Week roster, a big opener is always par for the course, and it was certainly no different this season. Gucci came swooping in, right along the immense buzz it consistently draws—in part due to its star-studded front row. There remains a sense of curiosity surrounding the current direction of the storied maison in the aftermath of creative director Sabato de Sarno’s unexpected departure, but the design team at Gucci delivered still, with clothes inspired by the work of the maison’s designers past.
And like clockwork, the rest of the season will soon fall into place. Shows like Dsquared2 have already garnered substantial social media buzz, as the brand pulled out all the stops in line with the brand’s 30th anniversary. Where the likes of industry genius Doechii made her runway debut—and to the Swamp Princess’s very own ‘Nissan Altima’ no less. This preceded a cataclysmic cast of models, like Naomi Campbell and Alex Consani, who later on joined in on the fun, elevating the vibe of the show to an ultimate high. Later in the week, big name designers like Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons will be sure to set the scene ablaze again, with Prada being a consistent favourite of the industry in Milan.
Naturally, showgoers and the city’s sartorial folk are basking in its alluring mood, with every show a site of experimentation for the street set. At Gucci, tonal dressing was at play; think reds on reds; suedes on suedes; greys on greys. Each individual showcased their own take on it, either by layering monotone looks with varying textures or by stark contrast—via their choice of accessories. Notably, the maison’s mammoth range of delicious arm candy came to play the game, with a spattering of its much-loved Bamboo or stalwart Horsebit bags thrown in the mix.
With only more to come, see the best of street style from Milan Fashion Week this fall/winter 2025 season—all lensed by Phil Oh.
