Digital reigned supreme as the format for fashion shows this season—and it’s something that American designer Michael Kors is exploring for his spring/summer 2021 collection presentation as well. After announcing that he would not be showing on the New York Fashion Week calendar this year, Kors thought long and hard about the best way to show his collection to a wide audience in the safest way possible.
“It is key for us to be able to bring our collection to life and translate that in-person runway show experience as best as possible to the digital world,” explained the designer.
The answer to that lies in the brand’s spring/summer 2021 presentation—here’s what we know. The special film, which has been teased on Instagram, is titled Up on the Roof, and is directed by Haley Elizabeth Anderson. It will feature a special performance by American Idol winner Samantha Diaz, with a guest appearance by a Kors favourite, Bette Midler. Lastly, the film was shot on location at the NYRP Bronx Community Garden.
