It is apparent that American luxury label Michael Kors is all about urban glamour. Over the years, the brand has honed in on its New York city roots and hosted shows that capitalise on its various storied locations. Its most recent spring/summer 2023 showing was no different. Beckoning the tropics to the Big Apple, the collection, themed ‘Urban Resort’, was a play on the sleekness of the city juxtaposed with the greenery and tranquillity of nature. The colour palette was light and refreshing, from crisp white and tropical lime hues to bold prints and iridescent neons. Traditional holiday ensembles, such as swimwear sets and fringed skirts, offset the formal outerwear, too.
As the brand teases its fall/winter 2023 show, the foreseeable direction seems intentionally intimate. “Growing up in the 1970s, I was inspired by strong, confident women with their own sense of style,” shares Kors via Instagram. “Iconic women like Tina Turner, Gloria Steinem, Yoko Ono and Jane Fonda were a huge influence on me.” South Korean singer Dahyun is also anticipated to be making an appearance, alongside Michael Kors favourite Kate Hudson.
Tune in live to the Michael Kors fall/winter 2023 show from New York, on 16 February, at 12.00am Singapore time.
