True to Coco Chanel’s vision, the house yet again exemplifies liberating women from traditional values with this contemporary take on a tuxedo-inspired ensemble for Blackpink’s Jennie. Below, the star shares more about the custom look as she gets ready for fashion’s biggest night.

Why did you choose this look?
Black dandyism, the Met Gala 2025 dress code, is more than just a style. It challenges tradition, embraces gender fluidity and redefines elegance. This look represents Coco Chanel’s vision of the early 20th century, freeing women from the constraints of fashion and blending masculine and feminine elements. The lustrous satin bodice, slim-fitting trousers and sculpted, graceful overskirt are stylish, but also embody Chanel’s break with the mould of women’s clothing, giving them freedom of movement and expression.

Where do you draw inspiration for your looks and hair and make-up?
I was inspired by the 1987-1988 Prêt-à-Porter collection, a classic style that embodies the styles of the 20s and 30s. The black leather satin overskirt is lined with white taffeta, creating a graceful silhouette.

What music were you listening to while you were preparing?
Unfortunately it was raining and overcast today, so I was listening to calm, slow music to relax.

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s Met Gala?
Being able to attend with Blackpink members Rosé and Lisa this year. I was really happy! I feel that the Met Gala is a big milestone for all three of us. It was a really precious experience to be able to share this special moment with them.

What does the Metropolitan Museum of Art mean to you?
This is my third year visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the Met Gala, and it always feels special. I get to express myself, collaborate with creators I respect, and inspire people all over the world. It really is an opportunity for me to take part in a global dialogue.
