It’s fashion’s biggest night of the year, but no Met Gala outfit would be complete with an iconic beauty look. A statement lip, an elevated embellished eye, and specifically, a hair look to end them all. As celebrities including the likes of Billie Eilish, Timothée Chalamet, and Amanda Gorman descend on the red carpet of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, real time reports shows that statement headpieces are back: from pearl accents embedded in Alicia Key’s sleek ‘do to Grimes’ coiled ponytail to fantastical crown-like adornments as seen on Lorde and Emily Blunt.
Fresh from her stint in Venice, Kristen Stewart styled coif in a pin-up girl pompadour while Megan Fox channelled Bettie Page bangs. Kaia Gerber, Megan The Stallion, Storm Reid, Yara Shahidi, and Ariana DeBose took a different, perhaps Old Hollywood approach incorporating glossy, glam waves. K-Pop queen and Vogue Singapore cover star, CL and tennis sensation, Naomi Osaka both opted for dramatic up-dos.
“I just feel like the hot girl culture needs to give Hollywood glamour,” says Megan Thee Stallion of her high-shine finger waves, cascading over her shoulders.
