And just like that, the men’s fashion week fall/winter 2024 shows have officially begun. Inaugurating the season was Gucci’s creative director, Sabato de Sarno, who showed his much-anticipated debut menswear collection for Gucci. The collection, titled Gucci Ancora, was unveiled at the Fonderia Carlo Macchi, a disused ironworks in North Milan. Set to be a “mirror collection” of de Sarno’s womenswear showing in September 2023, Gucci’s fall/winter 2024 menswear line up featured a sophisticated expression of classic menswear, from double-breasted blazers to chunky loafers. Needless to say, it has already set men’s fashion week ablaze.
As for the style aficionados making their rounds on the street style circuit? While many have co-signed the return of the monogram—of course, thanks to Gucci—long trench coats, knit pullovers as well as rich denim sets seem to be having their time in the spotlight, too. Bold hues like red and mustard yellow took centre stage, accompanied by a popular flurry of neutral tones.
As far as celebrity appearances go, Korean-American star Jay Park was spotted in attendance at the Gucci show, decked in a bomber jacket, tapered trousers, a striking Gucci belt and loafers. Also spotted was South Korean singer-songwriter and brand ambassador, IU, who channeled the ’90s in a leather double-breasted jacket and matching skorts. Tying the look together was Gucci’s ever-popular Jackie 1961 mini bag in the hottest colour of the season: a deep oxblood.
