Inspired by glamping—a portmanteau of ‘glamorous’ and ‘camping’—Longchamp’s spring/summer 2023 collection was a celebration of nomadic freedom and femininity. The collection was light-hearted and dynamic, exploring a contrasting yet complementary ambience through an unorthodox mix of fabrics, prints and colours. Split into two themes, the first facet of the collection is inspired by travel and nature. Picture an adventure-seeking woman wearing a light, floral-print dress with an embroidered Le Pliage top handle bag on one arm. On her feet are a pair of canvas hiking boots, laced up loosely as she strolls through a local farmer’s market in search of fresh seasonal produce.
The second theme references one that is sportier, pervaded with festive tropes and the spirit of glamour. Creative director Sophie Delafontaine reinstates her vision of the Longchamp woman, who is chic and urbanised, unabashedly confident with her style and demeanour. Luxurious two-tone knits complement the cheerful chiffon ensembles, while graphic prints on silk and linen shirts and jackets meet asymmetric swimsuits. The garments trace the lines of modernism and nostalgia, daring and dynamic.
On the accessories front, key pieces include a wide array of leather goods that are exquisitely crafted. The iconic Longchamp Roseau bag sees a reimagination of materials, boasting an embellishment of polka dots on a fresh cotton and linen body. The Box Trot line continues to stun; its recognisable silhouette now available in lemon and cheerful bubblegum pink. Furniture company Fatboy partners with the house to present inflatable armchairs made from recycled polyester in vibrant shades, completed by an outside pocket with a leather flap in cowhide.
Other additions include a denim baseball hat featuring the Longchamp racehorse logo, as well as casual sneakers and trendy clogs. An assortment of sunglasses inspired by water and snow is a nod to all things retro, the perfect way to round up this collection.
