This past week saw an unmistakeable air of frenzy and excitement descend upon Singapore, as 2025’s F1 weekend arrived. In no small part was this due to an influx of glamorous guests, from social media mavens and international sports stars to the racing drivers themselves. Ticking off more than one of these criteria, professional golfer Lily He was in town to support her boyfriend, racing driver Alex Albon. Vogue Singapore was fortunate enough to catch Lily on in between events, where the accomplished athlete let us in on how she keeps herself balanced on the road.
From maintaining a healthy relationship, to her love of journalling, read on for Lily’s top wellness and beauty takes:

Welcome to Singapore Lily! We’re so pleased to have you back. Being on the road and travelling so much, what rituals keep you feeling grounded?
I travel probably 10 months out of the year, and sometimes I feel like I’m living out of my suitcase, so rituals to keep myself grounded are really important! I always try to make my hotel room feel like home. Scent is a really big thing for me. I’ll have room sprays with me that remind me of home, and essential oil diffusers. I also bring a speaker with me everywhere I go. Playing music in the morning when I get ready or at night helps me feel more relaxed. I also travel with a little notebook that I journal in a lot. I think that’s good for staying grounded when there’s so much going on. Putting everything down on paper helps to calm my thoughts.
What kind of fitness routine do you keep to while travelling?
I do a lot of strength training—though less when I’m on the road, because it has to fit in around my competition schedule. But I love to just be active, whether that’s going out for a walk or playing padel with my boyfriend and friends.
It’s an exciting time for women’s sports, with such a growing global interest. How do you hope to inspire younger women with an interest in sports?
When I think about the female athletes that I looked up to when I was younger, a lot of them were very well-rounded people. Not only were they really good golfers, but they were just these [all-around] idols to me, from the way they dressed to how they seemed to have fun, fabulous lives. That was part of what made golf attractive to me. I hope I’m able to inspire the next generation of young girls by showing them that, hey, being a professional female athlete whilst also living a full and balanced life is totally possible. Sports can involve a lot of grit and tough times, but showcasing its positive sides is also important.

From golf to F1, there’s a lot of competition in your life! How do you manage to tap out of that and find balance for yourself?
Well, I’m naturally very competitive. I even have to delete games from my phone because sometimes it gets too intense! But I try to do things that make me feel relaxed, like journalling. I also take a lot of social media breaks. As much as I love it, it can be a lot and it’s important to step away sometimes. Reading is really important to me, and it’s nice just being in nature as well—being on a hike, in the ocean, even just going outside for a nice walk in the park.
What are you reading at the moment?
I’m currently reading The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros. I’m a big fan of her Fourth Wing series. I’ve run through the fantasy romance genre, I’ve read way too many!

We’d love to know more about your beauty routines. What does your skincare regimen look like?
I have a pretty simple skincare routine. I value a good double cleanse, a good moisturiser, toner and then sunscreen. A lot of sunscreen because I’m in the sun all the time. Reapplying is also super important.
What are your top three make-up essentials?
I love my black eyeliner, whether it’s pencil liner on the lash line or liquid liner with a little wing. I can’t live without the Tarte Double Take Eyeliner, where you have both! I love my Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue, a double-ended lip colour and gloss. Even just a little bit makes me feel more put together and awake. And then I’ve been loving my Chanel blush. A good blush, lip stain and eyeliner go a really long way.
Do you have a signature scent?
I’ve been wearing DKNY Be Delicious since middle school and I love it! It’s very light and great for daily wear. However, I do switch it up a lot, especially for fancier events.
What’s your favourite hack for elevating your beauty look—say, going from the golf course to a glamorous event?
I love iridescent eyeshadow. Sometimes, when going from day to night make-up, all I’ll do is touch up my eyelids with some iridescent eyeshadow, and that transforms the whole look. It’s really fun to play around with different shades.

Having moved from China to America at an early age, how do you think your own perspective on beauty and wellness has been shaped by your cultural upbringing?
Growing up in China, no one really wanted to be tanned. Everyone valued protecting their skin from the sun and wanted to be fairer. But having also grown up in America, I love to be tanned and I really enjoy being in the sun. I’ve learned to find the right balance between using different products to achieve a sunny, glowing look whilst still protecting my skin with sunscreen. I feel like it’s often ‘one or the other’, but I like a balance. That definitely has to do with my background and where I’ve grown up.
Of course, you also have a lot of eyes on your relationship with [racing driver] Alex Albon! With both of you having such busy careers, how do you find balance in your relationship?
I think Alex and I have such a healthy relationship because we’re both focused on our own health and careers. We’re very supportive of each other. That’s really huge for us, and our relationship feels like a true partnership. When he succeeds, I’m just as happy for him as I would be for my own achievements, and I know it’s the same vice versa. Being so supportive of each other’s careers allows me to focus and thrive on my own road, whilst knowing that we’re both on this wider path together.
