Show: Lacoste fall/winter 2025
Designer: Pelagia Kolotouros
Location: Stade Roland-Garros stadium
The vibe: It’s no surprise that stars showed up in style for French sports and fashion label Lacoste on a sunny Sunday morning. With a full strength turn out, from Adrien Brody and Venus Williams to Claire Danes and Sampha, Lacoste, which sparked its beginnings in tennis shirts, has dressed sports heavyweights from Richard Gasquet to Stanislas Wawrinka. Today, it stands as a mainstay alongside other luxury fashion brands at Paris Fashion Week, illustrating a dichotomy that brings together two distinct universes—elegance and utility. This underscores the brand’s voice, merging as one under the roof of the iconic Stade Roland-Garros stadium, the second time it has hosted a show there. Impeccably styled guests, each with their own imaginative take on Lacoste’s star pieces, entered an orange swirl of seats, complete with cosy blankets adorned with the label’s iconic crocodile. This morning, the collection was inspired by founder René Lacoste’s colourful life, from his vision as an entrepreneur to his charm as a socialite, blending French elegance with the athletic finesse the brand is renowned for.
The vision: Taking cues from the 1930s, the collection looked at the brand’s dynamic history by focusing on key elements: tailoring, structure, and luxury, as well as utilitarian use, technicality, and purpose. At the forefront was a play on materials. It is here that creative director Pelagia Kolotouros, who joined the brand just last year and has been applauded for her fresh take on its DNA, masterfully blends performance elements with an unmistakable design language—from reflective technical nylon and wool membrane fabric to pleated tennis skirt fabric and, of course, wool. The vision was brought to life in a palette of white, cream, black, green, camel, and pink, unveiling the brand’s key pieces, ranging from sharp skirt suits with crocodile pinning (my favourite being the pink iteration on model Suzi de Givenchy) to smart-casual tennis shirts paired with billowing trousers.
What to shop for: The star of the collection, in my opinion, was its accessory offerings. The Lenglen bag, which made its return this season, came in many beautiful iterations, from small to large, and from white to a smorgasbord of hues, displaying a fan-like exterior that we think will make the perfect statement piece for any look. But of course, it was the racket-shaped bags in all their fun and playful glory—accented with crystals and crafted from sumptuous leather—that brought the sharp whimsy Kolotouros seems to be known for. Add that to your rotation for a fun, novel piece that still serves its function. Our takeaway from today’s show? There’s fun to be had with athleisure, and with Lacoste’s innate essence, it just might defy your expectations.
