This month, the star-studded cast has been making their press rounds in New York City, stopping at various junkets and talk shows to discuss the new Tim Burton project. Ortega, in particular, has been embracing method dressing in the buzzy lead-up.
Diehard fans know that the aesthetic of Beetlejuice is all about a gothic, dark-romantic fashion vibe, made famous by costume designer Aggie Guerard Rodgers Burton in the original 1988 film. For the sequel press, Ortega has continued the sartorial mood—working with stylist Enrique Melendez to choose looks that are heavy on pinstripes, and all in black and white, of course.
Among Ortega’s winning Beetlejuice fashion moments? The pinstriped Dolce & Gabbana skirt suit she wore, punctuated with a retro-style sweetheart neckline. Or the other pinstriped suit she paired with matching striped tights. The black and white Beetlejuice costume is iconic, of course—yet the actor has channelled the signature look in a way that doesn’t feel cheesy or too on the nose. In fact, it feels fashun.
Even Ortega’s more casual off-duty looks have struck the right style chords. She emerged in New York wearing a white button-up, a cropped leather bra top, and a black miniskirt. The star also donned a structured white corset with a chic black silk skirt.
All of this is to say: Ortega‘s doing method dressing right, and more stars should take note of her thoughtful approach. Given that there are a few more weeks until film comes out, there is likely a bevy of statement looks to come. We don’t know what we’re more excited for—the outfits, or the movie itself.
