What do you get when you bring together one of the world’s most lauded luxury fashion houses and a multi-hyphenate who has built his base in fashion, music, and performance? The latest appointment set to take the fashion world by storm, of course. In a season already destined to go down in history as one of the most eventful to date, Christian Louboutin and Jaden Smith are joining forces in a moment for the books, with the announcement that Smith will become the maison’s very first Men’s creative director.

This marks a significant milestone for the French luxury brand, bringing a distinct new energy to its already popular men’s line. While the house rose to global fame for its ultra-sleek red sole for women, Louboutin has also been bringing that same creative spark to designing men’s shoes. Yet it was a custom order from singer-songwriter Mika for a shoe to take him on tour in 2009 that coincided with the eventual launch of the men’s collection. It’s clear that Louboutin is drawn to the daring, bold and magnetic and there’s nothing quiet about his designs. The same can be said of Smith who has quickly, in his own right, become a sartorial shapeshifter of sorts, donning daring ensembles on and off the red carpets and always with a point of view in tow.
“When I first met Jaden, I saw in him a natural fit for the maison. His world is rich and multidimensional, his style and cultural sensibility are inspiring and his curiosity and openness are remarkable.”
“When I first met Jaden, I saw in him a natural fit for the maison, his world is rich and multidimensional, his style and cultural sensibility are inspiring and his curiosity and openness are remarkable. I felt that with his creative direction our men’s collection would evolve in an exciting and dynamic way. He feels like the perfect addition to our creative team and I am truly looking forward to having fun working with him on our men’s collections,” notes Louboutin of the milestone.
The duo first crossed paths in 2019 in the City of Light, brought together by a shared approach to work and, naturally, a mutual admiration for each other’s creative spirit and vision. Smith’s influence on the industry can be traced through many milestones. Most notably, his acting debut alongside Will Smith in The Pursuit of Happyness paved the way for a series of pivotal moments, from modelling for high-profile luxury brands to earning a Grammy Award nomination. This creativity of Smith’s spills into clothing, naturally and as an extension of that, into curisiotiy and ambition, which are pivotal to this dialogue he is set to begin with Louboutin.
“Merging my vision with Christian’s comes quite naturally because we see the world in a very similar way. There’s a shared respect for creative freedom, and I think that’s why it works. I want to continue the story, honoring the past while shaping the future through my own perspective. It isn’t just a title—it’s a creative home. Christian has given me a place to explore, to learn, and to create freely. His legacy is built on hard work and joy and I want to carry that forward,” shares Smith.
So what can we expect from this meeting of worlds? If the teaser is anything to go by, we’re in for something avant-garde, imaginative, and perhaps off-kilter. The good news? Those eager for a first glimpse won’t have long to wait: Smith’s debut collection will be unveiled at the Men’s fall/winter 2026 Paris Fashion Week in January.
