The 2024 Olympics may officially be behind us but the City of Light is nothing if not one filled with promise for the future. Its most immediate peace offering? The seasonal return of everyone’s favourite binge-worthy television: Emily in Paris. The fourth season of the Netflix rom-com is soon to land on the streaming site—and with it comes only more mind-boggling drama and a series of questionable decisions by one Emily Cooper. As we may hold hope for the social media star to finally build a proper life in Paris, the dramatic rom-com ultimately wouldn’t be what it is without its complicated love triangles, mouth-agape revelations and Emily’s consistently outlandish outfits.
Mais oui, the outfits. Through the seasons, there’s no disputing the polarising and loud style of our dearest American protagonist; something costume designer Marylin Fitoussi might accord to her strong-willed personality and unabashed love for making a sartorial statement. Yet beyond her once-ringarde aesthetic and dopamine approach to fashion, therein lies a silver glimmer of possibility in Season 4. That despite Emily’s need to froth up in retina-searing outfits and equally bold accessories, the French capital—in all its Parisian chic getups and extreme savoir faire—has certainly rubbed off on her.
Instead, the fourth season’s trailer offers us a peek into the new wardrobe that Emily establishes for herself; whilst still brimming with colour and personality, experimentation in pantsuits and more streamlined silhouettes have begun to take root. Doubtlessly, her fellow cast stalwarts—from classic Sylvie to the inimitable Camille—continue to be walking masterclasses in Parisian style. There’s also the inclinations of best friend Mindy, who still displays a special affinity for a clashing print or two. But don’t just take it from us. Get your berets out, reach for your inner dreamers and have a go at the kaleidoscopic wardrobe of the various beloved characters, with the first part of Netflix’s Emily in Paris Season 4 due to hit the streaming site soon.

The ecstatic palette of Emily's wardrobe
When she first started out in Paris, it was clear that Emily Cooper was always meant to stick out like a sore thumb with her colourful and eclectic style that often seemed OTT. And whilst her wardrobe slowly grew to be more tastefully-curated, her love for colour blocking and mixing patterns never waned. Classic faux fur jackets, preppy separates and statement-making prints continue to lead the way—even as she bundles up for winter.

Sylvie's unrivalled elegance
There’s a certain air of quiet, sexy sophistication that Sylvie carries with her—one infused through her myriad of polished ensembles that aren’t afraid to show off some skin. Luxurious, sleek and understated are some of the words one might use to describe her aesthetic, but as someone who’s incredibly in tune with the industry, she’s also known to be prideful of her heritage, which translates to a wardrobe that brims with French designer names.

Camille's Parisian effortlessness
Camille has always had that French girl vibe down to a T. But considering she’s starting off Season 4 with a bun in the oven, we can anticipate her maternity style to evolve along with her. Some sartorial codes certainly won’t change though, such as her penchant for experimenting with timeless pieces that still feel edgy and chic.

Mindy's a performer through and through
There’s always been a spirited flair to all of Mindy’s outfits—one that reflects the performer from within. She demands attention through loud, clashing prints, bold and vivacious colours and statement accessories that are meant to keep things interesting.

Season 4's newcomer, Genevieve
Whilst we have yet to be properly acquainted with her, Netflix has introduced Genevieve as Laurent’s daughter hailing from New York looking to start her career in Paris. With her background being much like Emily’s own, it seems their similarities might bring them head to head on the career front—and this might just be conveyed sartorially as well. Whilst Emily retains her personality in technicolour, Genevieve seems to be your typical New Yorker who’s got a finger on the It-trends and brands of the season, mired by an urban-neutral palette one would expect from the streets of the Big Apple.
