A memory gains new dimension whenever scent comes into play. Delectable vanilla and invigorating tangerine wafts through the air, and you are reminded of the explosion of flavours from an unforgettable meal. Then there is the sharp, sulphurous odour of brine and seawater that transports you to a coastal region, floating up vestiges of your last trip abroad. Or the heady amalgamation of cedarwood and amber, of which you’ve come to associate with an individual in your life. It seems an irrefutable fact as any: a fragrance can take you places—and, conversely, can be taken with you to further enrich your travels; a notion that is keenly showcased by French perfume house, Henry Jacques, with the launch of their HJ Voyage range.
From sentiment to sensation
A review of the maison’s rich, storied history beginning in 1975 reveals that the heart of Henry Jacques lies in its dynamic union of innovation and tradition. Currently helmed by CEO, Anne-lise Cremona, the haute parfumerie was exclusively a bespoke perfume house until the opening of their first boutique in Harrods at the end of 2014. This led to a renewed interpretation of the illustrious label, which continues to concoct sur-mesure fragrances alongside dedicated collections that convey the house’s unparalleled take on parfums.

“Our bespoke fragrances benefit above all from a unique heritage. We have been and remain a family business and we use our same know-how as in the past,” states Cremona in a previous interview with Vogue Singapore. “We remain faithful to the same codes that have built Henry Jacques’ reputation.”
Indeed, this deep respect for the brand’s lore shines through in a multitude of Henry Jacques creations—including the HJ Voyage: a series of exquisitely-crafted travel cases designed to house your favourite Henry Jacques blends.
Happy landings
To create a product befitting of Henry Jacques’s codes is to pursue excellence in every aspect. Artistic Director, Christophe Tollemer, took to the task, consulting an expert team of craftsmen as well as luxury leather and bag manufacturers to produce five unique designs formulated from five different materials. They include black calfskin, royal blue Porosus crocodile, white calfskin, black jacquard fabric, and black eel.
The adherence to Henry Jacques’s philosophy of quality craftsmanship and functionality elevates each case from sartorial statement to masterful creation—with each hand-crafted model exhibiting the house’s deft straddling between legacy and modernity, as well as strength and delicacy. The combination of soft Australian Porosus crocodile paired with vivid orange accents, for one, presents an intriguing contrast that marries playfulness with elegance.

Keeping in line with Henry Jacques’s bespoke spirit, the HJ Voyage cases are available in four sizes to suit a variety of needs. Consumers are able to choose from variations that allow for the transporting of one or three flacons of the 15ml Henry Jacques Les Essences, or one or three flacons of the larger 75ml Henry Jacques Les Brumes.
And so, the true purpose of the HJ Voyage collection shines through—to allow scent savants to shuttle one exceptional piece of work in another. It is as the saying goes: art, after all, begets art.
