The tides have shifted. Concertgoers from all around the world have tasted the magical sandy Colorado desert at Coachella in Indio, California back in April and now they are relishing the farm life at Glastonbury Festival in Somerset, England. And believe it or not, the latter is getting a leg up this year, if not for its understated celebrity pool (think seasoned regulars like Alexa Chung, Harry Styles and everyone’s favourite duo Daisy Edgar Jones and Paul Mescal), but for its show-stopping headliners and surprise guests. Day one saw Doechii delivering yet another masterclass in hip-hop with the rising rap sensation serving up hits like ‘Nissan Altima’, ‘Denial Is A River’ and more whilst clad in custom Vivienne Westwood. Following that high, grunge-pop princess Olivia Rodrigo made her ‘Glastonberry’ debut an unforgettable one—by bringing out The Cure’s Robert Smith as they belted out the band’s ‘Friday I’m In Love’ and ‘Just Like Heaven’.
As expected in Glastonbury fashion, Hunter boots ran the gamut but if there was another reigning takeaway from the style set, it would be the headscarves spotted on many a It girl in the crowd. Gracie Abrams made sure of that, first by donning a red paisley number while making her Glastonbury debut. One that chimed in with sweet insouciance against her signature bob. On the other hand, the ever-so-elegant Anya Taylor-Joy spun hers in a chic braided do that we would definitely be replicating for the sweltering days ahead.
The silky accessory isn’t just a surefire way to switch up your hair (even if it’s not at its best) but it can also introduce a pop of colour to a simple monochromatic look. Something tells us, it’s just the beginning of headscarf season—especially with more festivals in store for us this summer.
