Ever since Giuseppe Zanotti launched his eponymous footwear label in 1994, the visionary’s anthology of glam rock-inspired luxe footwear has been at the top of the wishlist of fashion insiders all over the world. Flashy yet elegant, each and every one of his shoes are statement pieces that tread these two seemingly paradoxical traits with finesse and class.

For his spring/summer 2024 showing this year, Zanotti pivoted from ostentatious designs for items that were quieter in nature. Presented at Via Monte Napoleone—the go-to shopping street for luxury goods in Milan—the showing was set in an opulent room with Rococo sensibilities and adornments. Juxtaposing that were the velvety pink floors that enveloped the space as well as intense purple lights that seemingly infiltrated the otherwise classical and pristine walls—a move that is analogous to Zanotti’s design approach.

Invited to Zanotti’s pink glamourous world were creators like the crown prince of fashion, Hanan Besovic of @ideservecouture, New York-based Jessica Wang as well as Singapore’s own Yoyo Cao. That same quality was also reflected in the pieces shown. Aligning with the huge movement that is ‘quiet luxury’, Zanotti’s signature embellished details were kept minimal. Clean, ivory hues dictated the palette of the collection while hints of red and metallic tones added a pop of swankiness.

Drawing from the label’s bestsellers in the ’90s, the collection features new and modern renditions of a sleek stiletto heel and a patent leather sandal with a pointed mouth (designed to peek out of a long gown or trousers). One standout is the Mystero mule, which boasts a statement through form but subtlety in colour. Another eye-catcher is the rhinestone-embellished Intriigo which features a sparkling torchon. On top of footwear, a myriad of clutches with enlarged rhinestone clasps were presented, a suggestion for the perfect nighttime accessory.
