Last week’s Vogue World: London red carpet was jam-packed with stars, but few shone as brightly (quite literally) as Gemma Chan. The Eternals actor and longtime Louis Vuitton ambassador routinely makes best-dressed lists thanks to her take on Old Hollywood style. For Vogue’s second annual Vogue World event—this time on Chan’s home turf—she stayed close to her romantic sartorial sensibilities in custom lustrous Louis Vuitton: a strapless drop waist dress with a full skirt that jutted out from the hip.
As if the striking silhouette wasn’t bringing enough to the table, the organza dress is covered in blueish silver paillettes that were hand embroidered by members of the atelier. When illuminated by the photographers’ flashes, the dress mimicked anthracite. The look felt perfectly in step with the Vogue extravaganza’s venue, Theatre Royal Drury Lane in the heart of the West End.
Chan leaned into the evening’s theatricality when it came to her jewellery choices, as well. The Crazy Rich Asians actor had her pick of Louis Vuitton’s vast array of options, selecting a white gold and diamond choker from the brand’s “Deep Time” collection that rested delicately on her collarbone. Inlaid with Louis Vuitton’s Damier pattern, the necklace features a large central sapphire, which Chan matched to her ring.
On the beauty front, Chan kept with the Old Hollywood glamour. With her hair in a low bun and a smoky eye, she finished off her look with a bold red lip, just in time to hail a black cab to the theatre. What could be chicer than that?
Below, come along with Gemma Chan as she gets ready for Vogue World: London.
