Guess who’s back? It’s your boy, GD. An unmissable intro, for an unrivalled icon. And it’s an intro that everyone at the Padang Stage will be bound to hear as it roars through the crowds this F1 weekend, as G-Dragon—the living legend himself— headlines this year’s buzzy entertainment lineup, marking his first stage back in Singapore after nearly eight years.
The superstar has always been in a league of his own. Transcending boundaries in music, fashion, beauty standards for men—you name it. When it comes to K-pop, they call him your idol’s idol. In the world of luxury fashion, G-Dragon holds the title as Chanel’s first-ever Asian ambassador, ever since he was appointed by the late Karl Lagerfeld in 2016. One decade on, and it’s a relationship that has not tired despite the years. Most recently, the beloved maison created a custom stage look for his Übermensch concert tour stop in Paris: a regal off-white crested suit adorned with a Plume de Chanel brooch in 18K white gold and diamonds, and paired to a crystal-embellished felt hat.
It’s a look that slots perfectly into G-Dragon’s current sartorial season over the course of his current comeback album tour, largely consisting of impeccably made suits and an obsessive array of hats (particularly a straw pick from Celine). True to the nature of the bold, charismatic artist, his stage costumes have delivered exuberance in textures and technicolour, his opening look to every concert stop involving a distinctive rose jacket and a jewel-encrusted crown, as if to signal his return to the throne as K-pop royalty. Working closely with his long-term stylist Gee Eun, plenty of his other looks throughout the Übermensch world tour have been the subject of admiration for fans, with some even imbuing a touch of nostalgia for the artist’s past eras, like when he slips into a pair of skinny jeans again—just like he used to for ‘Who You?’.
A core style element that hasn’t changed through the years, however, is his continued love for OTT accessorising. A knack for brooching with pins, in particular, has been a style code that G-Dragon has made a part of his uniform, specifically using floral or daisy motifs. For his first return stage at the 2024 MAMA Awards last year, high jewellery house Jacob & Co. had designed a stunning daisy brooch for the mega star, and the relationship has only extended to the daisy pendants they’ve collaborated on with Jacob & Co. x Peace Minus One, the latter being GD’s own fashion label. He’s been wearing it plenty during his latest performances of course.
With his closet proving to be a treasure trove of its own, here’s a look at some of G-Dragon’s best stage style amid his ongoing Übermensch era. After all, as the headliner’s F1 stage is set to unfold this weekend, we can safely say that his most unexpected sartorial turn is yet to come.
