All the stellar festival outfits we spotted on the Lollapalooza 2023 stage

And that’s a wrap on Lollapalooza 2023. The major US festival has no doubt been turning up the heat in recent years—and this year’s rendition was no different. In part due to the increasingly diverse cast of performers up on its main stages, the summer bash drew in the masses like moths to a flame, as various acts that spanned an eclectic range of genres were fulfilling their hour on the festival roster.

We’re looking at a cataclysmic rise in Asian acts, for example, with K-pop group Tomorrow x Together having led the charge this year as one of the headlining acts on the festival’s penultimate night, no less. Alongside the ‘Sugar Rush Ride’ quintet, perhaps the appearance of NewJeans—the K-pop girl group that’s pretty much been on the tip of everyone’s tongues these days—was also one that brought down the roof with their refreshing summer bops, from ‘ETA’ to ‘Super Shy’. And should NewJeans be a paragon of any other aspect in the buzzy festival scene? It would no doubt have been their continued trend-setter status amidst the sartorial crowd, as they glided across the stage in their Y2K-inspired 874 mini skirts courtesy of Dickies, teamed with balletcore-leaning crops, Timberland boots and calf-high leg warmers.

But they weren’t the only ones who thought to deliver a playful twist to the festival dress code, despite the rising temperatures in Chicago, Illinois. On the stage, the likes of Sabrina Carpenter sashayed out in a full on Barbiecore ensemble complete with a Ken-esque cowboy hat, Rina Sawayama braved the sweltering heat in a salacious latex look from Atsuko Kudo and Suki Waterhouse blew us away in a plunging lace bodysuit. All whilst Billie Eilish stayed true to her signature performance style: an oversized jersey (in this case, an ode to Michael Jordan’s last Bulls game) paired with some crimson-white Air Force 1s that called her upcoming collaboration with the sportswear powerhouse to mind.
