In conjunction with the unveiling of their new flagship boutique at Marina Bay Sands, Fendi has launched their spring/summer 2022 collection in stores. Inspired by and created in collaboration with the estate and archive of inimitable fashion illustrators Antonio Lopez and Juan Ramos, Kim Jones’ second ready-to-wear collection for the label was a nod to high-octane ‘70s glamour and ease.
The collection featured a slew of classic, disco-era silhouettes and wardrobe staples. Think: slinky column dresses, caftans, marabou feather outerwear and invitingly louche pant suits interpreted in a way that eschewed nostalgia and pastiche for modern day wearability.
Lopez’s illustrations—notably one of his muse, Jane Forth—as well as his sinuous brushstroke prints, were reproduced on garments and accessories throughout the collection. Iconic handbag styles such as the Baguette and Peekaboo were reimagined with Lopez’s graphic illustrations and an electric rainbow design.
Some of his other signatures echoed throughout the accessories by way of enamel lily hair pins and plexiglass and metal disc earrings. And the pièce de résistance? A hand-sketched logo Lopez had drawn for his contemporary Karl Lagerfeld during his tenure at Fendi, which was revived and used as a print on numerous looks.

Styling tip: “Slick your hair back into a high ponytail and wear these earrings with a full denim ensemble for that nod to the ‘90s—a trend that has endured the past few seasons.”

“It seems like ‘90s hobo bags are here to stay. For spring/summer 2022, Fendi has introduced a new style–the Fendigraphy. It comes in two sizes and features some serious hardware on the bottom. The last time I checked, these babies have a waitlist, so time to get in line.”
Styling tip: “Pair your Fendigraphy bag with a cute, cropped top and low waisted bottoms for that sexy Y2K look. You could also throw a slouchy cardigan on to add a preppy finish to your outfit.”

Styling tip: “The trick to wearing bulky sneakers is to pair them with slouchy pants or jeans. The wider the cut, the better.”
