Over the summer, you may have caught a glimpse of Olivia DeJonge on her international press stops for Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, in which she portrays Priscilla Presley. (She delivered many winning red carpet moments during the process, too.) Though the movie has been out for a few months now, it’s an experience the star says she’s still processing now well into fall. “The promo tour was such a contrast to the way we shot the film (in the middle of pandemic),” says DeJonge. “It was a huge release for all of us. What will stay with me are the friends I made; The early-morning memories and flights where we were all exhausted, but rallying and laughing and having a great time celebrating something we all cared deeply for.”
No stranger to hitting a red carpet, DeJonge continued her busy schedule this week with a pitstop at Gucci’s spring 2023 show on Friday. Fashion week is always a must-attend event for the star, mainly for the mixing and mingling. “I feel like I always have a night at fashion week which ends with me thinking, ‘How did I get here?’” DeJonge says. Of Alessandro Michele’s latest runway, she says her favourite part of the show was not just the clothes—rather the unique experience of it all. Namely, the twin reveal, where Michele showed all his looks on identical twins. “Strangely, it was very touching,” says DeJonge. “I think anyone with siblings felt a little ping in the heart when they walked the catwalk holding hands. Suddenly it felt like a deeper statement Alessandro was making, rather than just a statement about clothes. Which is a moment I think anyone in fashion—or any creative industry—is hungry for.”
Sitting in the front row, DeJonge naturally needed a strong fit for the occasion—and she didn’t disappoint. She covered herself entirely in lace to do so, wearing a nude-and-black Gucci gown that had a slight Victorian feel to it. “The sleeves and combination of coloured lace were fun, but chic,” says DeJonge of the evening frock. The actor was also a fan of her chic black mini bag for the night. “To be able to carry the tiny Jackie [bag] was also a highlight,” she says. “I’m always a stickler for the Jackie—it’s one of my core pieces.”
After having a bit of fashion fun, DeJonge will now be back to work on set. “Currently I’m prepping for my next film Trashers, directed by Cooper Raif,” says DeJonge. “I’ll be working with Cooper Hoffman, who I think is absolute dynamite, so I’m excited to jump into things with him.” She will, however, be sneaking in a little moment of R&R to finish off her extremely eventful year. “After that I’ll head back to Australia to spend time with my family, as I haven’t been able to go home for a year and a half,” says DeJonge. “Very much looking forward to that and also cuddling my dog.”
Below, see how DeJonge got ready for this season’s Gucci show.

They sent some makeup to the room—this Gucci Beauty lipstick was what I used on the day. And I love the little inscription on the side.

The final look on the way to the show. I was so excited to be wearing this look. The sleeves and the lace neck were my favourite part.
