A pair of walnuts. That’s what guests received with the invitation for Dior’s upcoming spring/summer 2027 show. Now, we all know the man at the helm, Jonathan Anderson, and his ability to create whimsical worlds of his own. By this point, everyone’s also probably seen the joint move with A24, where Anderson himself became the punchline as stars took turns doing their best impressions of the creative director, right down to the signature JA walk.
So whilst the walnuts feel like another peep into his world, they might also feel familiar to those who have been following his Dior journey closely. Some will remember that for his very first womenswear showing for the house, guests received a ceramic plate of walnuts and hazelnuts. This time, though, the reference runs a little deeper, drawing from the Chinese tradition of rolling walnuts in one’s hand—with time and enough dedication, the walnuts develop a jade-like lustre. “When I came across wénwán walnuts, I was reminded of how we can find knowledge and preciousness in nature,” Anderson explains.

His fall/winter 2026 collection was something of an outburst; a floral reverie. Staged amid the Tuileries Gardens, water lilies floated across the pond as flowers seemingly spilled onto the clothes too, from raffia blooms emerging across lace to lilies prettily adorning footwear. Then things shifted entirely for cruise 2027, taking the house to Los Angeles and merging the brand’s French codes with the fantasy of American cinema. Vintage Cadillacs filled LACMA, Marlene Dietrich and old Hollywood entered the picture, while California poppies bloomed throughout the lineup. There’s no doubt that Anderson has already made a habit of taking us somewhere completely different each time. Which leaves us with one question: what exactly is coming next?
