In our post-pandemic world, where facial coverings just might be the new normal, nothing is more empowering than a bold eye—which was the message underpinning the beauty looks at Dior’s haute couture autumn/winter 2021 show.

Peeking out from underneath tweed riding hats and offsetting Maria Grazia Chiuri’s beautiful collection of shimmering diaphanous dresses, creative and image director of Christian Dior Make-up, Peter Philips, underlined models’ eyes with a deep blue for an everyday punk look.

“The look is elegant and a bit edgy,” says Philips. “It’s a very graphic eye, but it’s got a bit of a soft edge. We actually went back to what we did for pre-fall, which was an under eyeliner, where I added glitter patches on top, which Maria Grazia really liked. But, we wanted to do it in an intense blue using a matte black and with the colour Denim from the 5 Couleurs Couture [Eyeshadow] Palette over it.”
Accentuating the eyes further, Philips enhanced models’ brows according to their natural shade, while skin was kept matte and lips neutral with a Rouge Dior Lip Balm.
Over on hair, stylist Guido Palau kept things modern and clean with locks slicked back into low ponytails and styled with centre partings.
