At Hong Kong’s K11 MUSEA, Delvaux hosts its ‘Brillant’ soirée, celebrating its new flagship that brings the maison’s wider world into focus. Founded in Brussels in 1829 and widely recognised as the oldest fine leather goods house in the world, Delvaux has envisioned the space as a creative portal between its home and Hong Kong, folding its illustrious history into a setting that feels distinctly alive to the city around it, balancing heritage with a sharper contemporary edge.

While the façade carries an art deco sensibility, the interior draws on the luxury brand’s long-standing affinity for decorative arts and functional design—the beautiful in the useful. Rather than following the polished sameness that defines so much of luxury retail, the maison has created a store with its own unique point of view, filled with museum-worthy design elements and layered references that invite a slower, more thoughtful experience.
A highlight of the store opening was the Emblem Tales collection making its first overseas stop—showcasing a more novel take of the brand’s savoirs and savoir-faire. The special edition range reimagines emblematic silhouettes of Le Brillant, Le Tempête, and Le Cool, putting a witty and playful spin through leather marquetry and embroidery.

Among its more distinctive spaces is the stunning VIC suite, where a 17th-century Flemish tapestry depicting a bridal procession on horseback introduces a sense of narrative and ceremony. Opposite, sits the Bar, conceived as a nod to Belgian and broader European social customs, designed as a more informal setting for conversation and gathering. Elsewhere, a gilt wood Dragon Mirror by French designer Gabriel Viardot adds another cross-cultural note, reflecting the store’s wider dialogue between East and West.

That interplay feels fitting for a maison whose history includes launching the first world patent for a women’s luxury leather handbag, filed in 1908, making it the inventor of the
modern handbag. Today, that legacy still shines through in the maison’s signature creations like Le Brillant, Le Tempête, Le Pin and Le Cool, each expressing its unique way of bringing together technical mastery and design clarity.
