Neon pink, a punk spirit, and youthful plays on house classics punctuated Chanel’s spring/summer 2021 show at Paris Fashion Week. Think tiny metallic 2.55 bags dangling from models’ wrists and ears, or fastened to belts in charm form.
“Jewellery is always an essential component of any Chanel show and this didn’t disappoint,” says British Vogue’s jewellery and watch director Rachel Garrahan. “Of course, there were strings of pearls aplenty in every length imaginable, and I loved the mini bags hanging from necks, wrists and waists. What made it so youthful were the pops of colour alongside Chanel’s signature black, white and gold. Next season, I predict we’ll all be sporting Chanel’s neon pink and pearl earrings.”
Virginie Viard’s latest collection, which she called “a tribute to the muses of the house”, doubled down the Chanel codes, and the double-C found its way onto almost all of the jewellery—and there was a lot of it.
Below, a closer look at the jewellery from Chanel’s spring/summer 2021 runway.
