Fair warning: If you are single and suffering from relationship-envy, this is not the story for you. As fashion’s biggest night of the year descends upon us, Hollywood’s most famous celebrity couples have seized the opportunity to show up in their best couples’ fashion.
With this year’s Met Gala theme of Gilded Glamour, noteworthy moments abound—whether it is the matching Thom Browne skirts donned by newly-weds Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker, or a rare public appearance by young couple Kaia Gerber (in Alexander McQueen with a big beauty transformation) and Austin Butler (in Prada), looking so in love. Long-term couple Henry Golding and Liv Lo also showed in complementary outfits, the British-Malaysian actor’s Tom Ford tuxedo pairing well with Lo’s bejewelled look.
The Met Gala has long been a platform for celebrity pairs to make a splash together—from Bianca and Mick Jagger in 1974 to Kim Kardashian‘s show-stopping Marilyn Monroe moment, arm-in-arm with new boyfriend Pete Davidson. After all, what better avenue is there to announce your relationship to the world? Even the co-chairs of this years gala are social media’s favourite quirky couple, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. While Reynolds kept his look simple in a velvet tuxedo and white bow tie by Ralph Lauren, Lively’s Versace gown was something out of a fairytale. Here, see all the chic twosomes that caught our attention on this year’s red carpet.
