March might be dwindling to a close, but that’s not to say it won’t be concluding with a bang. If anything, Netflix has made sure its subscribers will end the month on a high with the release of the second season of Bridgerton; the highly-anticipated follow-up to the sizzling drama produced by renowned showrunner Shonda Rhimes. Its arrival brings forth a new crop of scandals, precarious situations and trickery characteristics of the show’s Regency setting, featuring familiar characters in the vein of Anthony Bridgerton as well as new additions Kate and Edwina Sharma (played by Simone Ashley and Charithra Chandran respectively). And while the Vogue Singapore team is braced for the influx of wardrobe and beauty inspiration soon to come, there remains another aspect of the series worthy of celebration and recognition: its food.
Observant audiences might have picked up on this early on, with season one showcasing a vibrant display of cakes, pastries and sweets to complement the equally grandiose frocks and faces. This alone inspired London’s finest hotel, The Lanesborough, to craft a Bridgerton-themed afternoon tea comprising hand-crafted chocolate, Charlotte sponge cake, pistachio nut financiers and more—a menu that pays tribute to the key families within the Bridgerton universe thanks to its witty naming (e.g. “A True Love Match” and “The Queen’s Diamond).

Should flying down to London prove to be a non-starter, there is however, a variety of high tea options in Singapore that are sure to serve up a similar experience. Think crumbly scones, intricate desserts and opulent table finery that mimic the grandeur of Bridgerton’s elaborate sets. See them all, below.

Conceived by prolific chef Lachlan ‘Lokiʼ Lynch, Atlas offers a European-style high tea spread featuring flavours and textures typically employed in the Regency Era. That is: a berry fruit tart, banana cream pie, scones with jam and clotted cream and zesty lemon-tinged madeleines amongst many others, all of which can be accompanied by a comprehensive selection of teas or champagne. Brasserie Les Saveurs Afternoon Tea Ritual at St. Regis Hotel
It is all in the details at Brasserie Les Saveurs. The three-tiers of sweet and savoury treats are peppered with whimsical features that are very much reflective of the Bridgerton spirit, such as butterfly motifs inked on fruit-flavoured macarons as well as an abundance of chantily cream heaped onto tarts and cakes. Apricot, pistachio and marmalade are commonly utilised too—aka flavours that serve as a key tenet to Regency-era cuisine. The egg course is what distinguishes Brasserie Les Saveurs from its competitors, where guests are able to enjoy a sous vide egg containing spring vegetable ragout and parmesan cheese espuma.

Tablescape Restaurant & Bar Afternoon Tea at Grand Park City Hall Hotel
While Tablescape’s decadent chocolate hazelnut éclairs and passion fruit pralines are impressive enough to warrant a mention, it is the caramelised apple shell tart with rosemary meringue that propelled it onto this list; a zesty-yet-sweet concoction that fuses cinnamon, sugar, and raisins with hard pastry. Its delicate appearance comprising housemade custard cream capped with an Italian meringue is a perfect Bridgerton-esque dessert befitting of our favourite debutantes.
