To celebrate their season of love, brides are going boho. We’re not referring to heady festival grunge à la Kate Moss, but its more elegant cousin; of softer nuances and romantic details. They’re bringing up dress lengths to their ankles, wearing flowers in their hair, and opting for lace in their veils. Other accessories that might emulate the vibe? Juliet caps, floral crowns and lace trimmings are on the rise—all emulating a sense of effortless ease with a touch of old world charm. It’s a bridal aesthetic that beckons to nostalgia and nature; equal parts laidback and free-spirited in its own way. The shift is ever so slight, but perhaps all it really is, is the preference for more intimate moments—a move away from anything too big, too opulent and just too much for their big day.

In sum, brides are paring things back. And it just so happens to fall right in line with the boho sartorial influences that we’ve been seeing all over our feeds. Like the rising preference for insouciantly working a headscarf into one’s everyday wardrobe, bridal beauty looks are also tending towards the same sort of chic.
“Brides are taking a more casual approach to beauty—amid this leaning towards ‘boho’. Think hair in softer textures, and make-up in softer nudes,” offers Victoria Hwang, a professional make-up artist who has brides booking her all the way till the end of 2026. On all fronts, the bridal beauty brief is right in line with the zeitgeist’s preference for a ‘your skin, but better’ approach towards make-up. Brides want to look beautiful, but still very much like themselves.
The charm of the aesthetic is almost irresistible, and it’s certainly a timely way to spruce up your bridal look if you’re in need of some inspo. We asked Hwang to weigh in on some topline notes on how to best transform into the boho bride of your dreams, ahead of your wedding preparations.

What are some of the more common ways boho is coming back for bridal beauty?
According to Hwang, lace trimmings, crochet styles as well as lace veils are all increasingly popular choices for hair accessories amongst brides. “They’re all tied to the emerging boho trend but there’s a simpler, more casual nuance to the look,” she says.

How would you suggest brides wear their hair with vintage accessories like Juliet cap veils?
With its close-fitted cap that sits atop the head and the embellished lace that falls over your shoulders, Juliet cap veils make for a stunning, yet simple accessory to your look. “My suggestion would be to keep the hair soft by having natural waves that look almost like you woke up with it, or for a sharper look, you can opt for a sleek straight hairstyle,” offers Hwang.

For brides who wish to ace the boho bride brief, how would you suggest they do their make-up and hair on the big day?
“Opt for beachy waves, freckles and lighter lashes. A more “brontour” focused look than “blush blindness” feels closer to boho at heart. Those feeling adventurous can even opt for thinner brows,” Hwang recommends.
The essence for having fun with it? Let your hair loose, think in softer tones and channel your inner romantic.
