It’s been a decade since Beyoncé graced the Met Gala red carpet in a floral-embellished latex haute couture gown by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy. But reader, rejoice! We can count on Queen Bey making a spectacular turn on the step and repeat in 2026, as she is set to co-chair fashion’s biggest night out alongside Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour.
Given that she is clearly one to commit to a theme (think: the Western motifs she channelled during her most recent Cowboy Carter era, and her disco doyenne moment on her Renaissance tour), all eyes are peeled on how Beyoncé will interpret the spring Costume Institute exhibition theme, Costume Art. We’d personally love to point her in the direction of archive Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Lacroix and Dilara Findikoglu.
The seven-time attendee has a long history with the Met, attending for the first time in 2008 to celebrate the Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy exhibition. Historically, Beyoncé has kept Givenchy close to her heart, wearing custom creations from the French label’s former creative director Riccardo Tisci for her last five appearances.
In 2012, she modelled an ombré haute couture gown with a purple feathered train that trailed behind her as she ascended the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s grand staircase. Fast forward to 2014, and Beyoncé turned heads in a plunging mesh dress, with a matching veil pulled over her eyes. She came back the next year in yet another dangerously sheer, crystal-embroidered confection. But perhaps the most daring turn of all was the sheer gown she wore in 2015, playing with the China: Through the Looking Glass theme, and pioneering the now ubiquitous concept of the “naked dress”.
While we wait with bated breath for Beyoncé 2026’s turn, take a moment to recap every one of her flawless Met Gala looks.
