2024 is off to a strong start with men’s fashion week in full swing. As it bids farewell to Milan, it heads on to Paris for a tenacious lineup of designers rooted in the City of Light. Inaugurating the season was Pharrell Williams for Louis Vuitton, as he showcased his third show for the house following his pre-fall spectacle in Hong Kong.
Titled Paris-Virginia, Williams looked to his roots for inspiration. The fall/winter 2024 collection was an ode to Americana, paying tribute to the country’s heritage of Western wear and workwear. Models walked down the runway in an array of leather and denim, embroidered, fringed and flowered. Tailored pieces were accented by hints of turquoise, spotted on buttons, belts, collar tips and the like. Accessories consisted of classic Western icons–bolo ties, cowboy hats and intricate belt buckles. The maison joined hands with the Dakota and Lakota tribes for a Native American twist, imbuing hand-paintings and desert flower embroidery on the coveted Speedy bag.
The magnetic energy was also translated off the runway, with celebrities and attendees alike setting the streets ablaze in style. Elevated workwear seemed to be the uniform at Paris, as style enthusiasts opted for iterations of structured blazers, pleated slacks and patterned co-ord suits in monochrome. Leather had a moment as well, constructing bomber jackets, coats and trousers. Outfits were accented by the occasional bold hue or two in primary colours.
As for the celebrity guest set, stars from the likes of Bradley Cooper, Carey Mulligan and Venus Williams were spotted at the show. Meanwhile, newly-minted house ambassadors Riize made their Paris Fashion Week debut, alongside fellow K-pop luminaries Jackson Wang and BamBam.
