The fashion scene burgeons beyond the renowned fashion capitals, and Seoul Fashion Week is a testament of that. Over at the buzzy Jung District, industry’s heavyweights showcase their interpretations for the fall/winter season, from understated sensibilities to subversive takes on street culture.
While Seoul Fashion Week continues its tenure at Dongdaemun Plaza, this season sees a new runway at SFactory, a cultural complex in the heart of Seongsu-dong, east of Seoul. Here, the prowess of new wave Korean designers reign as they redefine fashion and establish roots in the sartorial landscape. Julycolumn kicked off the runway with its ‘Homo Archivist: The Weaver of Tomorrow’ collection, placing emphasis on heritage and craftsmanship, encapsulating the delicate art of weaving the past into the future. K-pop quartet NewJeans sat front row as Seoul Fashion Week’s ambassadors, as they also starred in the homegrown label’s campaign teaser.
Elsewhere, the fashion-forward crowd brought a disruptive edge to the streets of Dongdaemun, as all-black ensembles were elevated with sumptuous furs, leather pants and sleek frames. Bold crimson shades seem to be the colour of the season, adorned on oversized varsity jackets and corduroy trousers, with the occasional beret or two.
