Coachella, our favourite American music festival, returned this weekend for another blowout extravaganza. The beloved Empire Polo Club in Indio, California once again played gracious host to revellers who descended on the desert for the usual audiovisual feast—this time, starring heavyweight headliners like Bad Bunny, Blackpink and the elusive Frank Ocean. The 29-year-old Puerto Rican superstar, Bad Bunny, is the first Latino artist and Spanish language performer to headline at Coachella, while K-pop behemoth Blackpink is also the first Asian, all-female act to headline, though they made their debut at the festival back in 2019. But perhaps the real kicker is that this year’s festival will mark the historic end of Frank Ocean’s long hiatus from the stage.

Other popular acts include Rosalía, Benee, 070 Shake, Gorillaz, Jackson Wang, Charli XCX, boygenius, Björk, Calvin Harris, The Chemical Brothers, Blondie, Kali Uchis, Blink-182 and James Blake.

But Coachella has never just been about the music. With approximately 125,000 daily attendees, many of them famous, it has become the sandy runway to see and be seen in your most fabulous garb. The eternal question remains: who had the best Coachella fit? Though this year’s turnout is still shy of Coachella queen, Vanessa Hudgens—a myriad of stars still came togged out in their fiercest gear.

Bohemian outfits were spotted mixed with darker, grungier elements. Good ol’ festival staples were well-represented—à la Alessandra Ambrosio’s burnt orange flared pants and white eyelet shorts. Victoria Justice and Becky G showed some love to wide-brimmed western hats while Emma Roberts and Charli d’Amelio brought out billowing white dresses. Amongst the stylist set, edgy looks were prominent too. Stella Maxwell rocked up in an all-black fitted leather jumpsuit accompanied by a gothic Irina Shayk, serving dangerous, with a rosary dangling from her neck.
