The best beauty moments from the 79th Venice Film Festival

The season of film is abound, as the 79th Venice Film Festival offers up a spectacular round-up of riveting screen pictures—as evidenced from the electrifying performance by Cate Blanchett in Tár to the cacophonous standing ovation Luca Guadagnino’s Bones & All received from the gala premiere crowd. Syncing up with the glinting scene of the film premieres, are of course none other than the glamour served up from the red carpet itself. And as the biggest names of screen descended onto the Lido, it’s clear that their glam teams find themselves faced with the ultimate task: to dial up on the dazzle, and ensure their stars show up looking their best. And so they did.

Fantastical frocks aside, we’re talking stupefying beauty looks—proving to us that our favourite MUAs can be depended on to deliver a refreshing surprise every now and then. As we bask in the high of the festival, we’ve seen a slew of fabulously swept-up manes take centre stage, elevated in all the right ways. We saw meticulously styled buns à la Barbara Palvin’s opening night look and Simone Ashley’s orchestrated braids dealing in for a clever mood of sophistication. Reliable touches of hair accessories were seen on the likes of Tessa Mae Thompson, where a metal chain was optimised for dual use: as a choker and as a hair tie that kept her wavy tresses in place. On the make-up front, we were promptly delivered with stellar eyeliner magic: from bold, thick liners as seen on Irina Shayk to Jodie Turner-Smith’s artful curves cleverly paired with her flooring Balmain gown.
