Horror devotees rejoice, Halloween is officially upon us, and you know what that means: it’s spooky season. An appreciation of all things macabre and supernatural that even the most skittish would be curious of what lurks in the dark. But Halloween doesn’t always have to be about vibrant parties and elaborate costumes to be meaningful. The celebrations can be quiet and understated too, which can look a lot like staying in and curling up on the couch with a blanket to hide under with your favourite candies, a bottle of wine, and testing your limits with some of the most terrifying horror movies out there.
And 2025’s horror releases are loaded with scary tales that are already proving to be some of the most spine-tingling ones yet. By blending genres and defying traditional tropes, this year’s horror films push the boundaries of the genre. There’s M3GAN 2. O, for starters, which sees the return of our favourite AI doll, now smarter, scarier, and more sinister than before. Then there’s also Ryan Coogler’s horror musical Sinners, which stars Michael B. Jordon in dual roles. And of course, leave it to independent film house A24 to always deliver the fatal punch: if Longlegs was last year’s reigning haunting champion, Bring Her Back is 2025’s—a depiction that is certainly not for the faint-hearted.
Below, Vogue Singapore rounds up the best horror movies of 2025 to add to your watchlist, perfect to get you in the mood for a frighteningly good time.
