The dress of the summer is surprisingly bridal

While this summer has been filled with jorts (jean shorts) and Adidas Sambas, this season’s most surprising trend comes in the form of white, bridal-esque dresses. Stars like Hailey Bieber, Amal Clooney, and Dua Lipa are all on board with the refined look.

Of course, celebrities aren’t walking around in full-on wedding gowns. These new crop of white frocks are more in the vein of something you’d see a bride rock for her rehearsal dinner or after-party. The silhouettes are easy, sleek, and slinky—no princess tulle required. Just take Amal Clooney, who did date-night style with George Clooney in Lake Como, Italy wearing a vintage John Galliano slip dress earlier this month. It’s a classic piece that could very easily be dressed up for a wedding—perhaps a courthouse affair—but she made it feel perfectly summery and casual with her understated mules and clutch. That’s the best part of this look: It’s actually super easy to wear.

During the Wimbledon games in London, Nicola Caughlan also embraced the look wearing a white Ralph Lauren day dress, complete with thin straps. Accessorised with her raffia bag, her look was perfect for a garden party or lunch outing. Dua Lipa also nailed the mood during a nighttime gelato outing, when she paired a slinky slip dress with Gucci Jackie bag.
