As April rolls around, the entertainment scene is heating up, with a slate of exciting releases all queued up and ready to go. It seems as though every fan-favourite series is returning this month, and the first on our list is, of course, the second season of The Last of Us. Five years after the events of Season 1, we return to a post-apocalyptic world far more dangerous and unpredictable than the one we first left behind. As Joel and Ellie get drawn into conflict with each other, their past is quickly closing in—bringing the beloved show to an end.
Next up: the return of Andor. War draws near in the second season of the Rogue One prequel, as Cassian becomes a key player in the Rebel Alliance. Rife with political intrigue, Season 2 sees the stakes rise as betrayals, sacrifices and conflicting agendas transpire.
Acclaimed sci-fi anthology Black Mirror also returns for its seventh season. From an eccentric murder suspect with ties to a video game from the 1990s, to a groundbreaking system that allows its users to step inside old photographs, the series presents six new standalone episodes that will intrigue and provoke thought.
As for other shows to watch this April? Consider Resident Playbook. A spin-off from popular series Hospital Playlist, the series follows the colourful lives of a group of university hospital professors and residents in the OBGYN department during the modern era of low birth rates.
