For the Valentino autumn/winter 2021 show, creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli delivered a collection featuring a predominantly black-and-white colour palette interspersed with muted gold hues. Diamond cut-outs, fishnets, lace and short hemlines were a recurring theme, adding a touch of punk to the ensembles. The show was held in the historic Piccolo Teatro di Milano. Although the venue was closed to the public due to the pandemic, it opened its doors temporarily for Valentino, an act that Piccioli himself deemed “a punk gesture”.
The Valentino spring/summer 2022 show, Valentino RendezVous, looks set to revolve around the theme of past, present and future—looking back at the past and forward to what the future holds. The rendezvous with Valentino will be held at the Carreau du Temple in Paris. Once a covered market, the venue boasts a vast floorspace and intricate glass panelling lending it an air of romanticism, an ideal setting for Valentino’s next offering.
