If Paco Rabanne’s pailletted armoury and models strutting out onto the streets were anything to go by, it is that we’re all looking for otherworldly ways to work our face coverings (and hair and make-up) to safely head back into the outdoors in high style.
Reflecting Julien Dossena’s dose of glittery glamour were embellished eyes—think lids artfully brushstroked with jewel-toned metallic eyeshadow or bedazzled with rhinestones—as spotted on showgoers including blogger Lena Mahfouf and actress Maisie Williams. Emerald green emerged a standout shade for many, appearing in the form of mascara, eyeliner, face gems, and even braids and a headwrap. More pops of colour also revealed themselves whenever style stars removed their masks for photo ops, with a bold fuchsia lip standing out from the array of classic red and nude pouts.
Hair, too, made a major statement, in almost a “if you can’t see my face, then look at my hair” sort of way. Big, bouncy curls crowned model siblings Zakari and Tina Kunakey—who also worked ultra enviable, ultra sleek ‘dos throughout the weeks—while fashion influencer Leonie Hanne and supermodel Natalia Vodianova brought breezy summer vibes with blonde, beach waves. Then there was Rupaul’s Drag Race queen Nicky Doll, who served over-the-top pastel perfection with not one but two hair dye jobs (and counting)—sporting silvery mint to the Isabel Marant show and peachy coral to the Ami spectacle by the Seine. And finally, headgear was another accessory du jour, with berets and bandanas bringing back some covetable ‘90s flavour.
