Clear blue water twinkling in the light, azure and crystalline teal. The sky, golden and radiant all day then, with a dramatic suddenness, turning intensely orange as the sun slips into the horizon. One of the joys of travelling is seeing a different sky than the one you’re used to. Sunlight looks different in parts unknown, and it’s subtle but it’s often that change in perspective that rejuvenates you.
This May, Vogue Singapore is embracing and celebrating the spirit of the nomad. The traveller’s urge to broaden one’s horizons—in mind, eye and body. Take it from our cover interview this month with the creative duo Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, formerly of Proenza Schouler, now at the head of Loewe. They’ve taken the craft-obsessed Spanish label and given it a positively solar spin: primary reds and yellows with such a simple intensity they make you dream of sweating on summer vacation.
In jewellery, colour is shaping up as a big story too. The wide world of coloured gemstones is a lovely way to inject personality into a look. More than that, the primacy of joyous, juicy colour is life-affirming. Beautiful to look at, certainly, but also mood-making and affective.
