During Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime show, the pop icon pulled out all the Bad Gal stops. Decked out in a fire-engine red boiler suit that showcased her growing baby bump, she dazzled the crowd (and over 100 million viewers) with a medley of hits, including ‘Diamonds’ and ‘Only Girl (In the World)’. And naturally, as beauty’s resident disrupter, RiRi turned out unforgettable statements above the neck too, including a bold red lip and serpentine power ponytail.
The handiwork of longtime hairstylist Yusef Williams, Rihanna’s sleek, waist-grazing ponytail was punctuated by a clean center part, a set of ’90s wisps, and a cascade of plaits woven at the top and worn loose through the ends. A perennial favorite of Rih’s, a deep red pout led her makeup look, crafted by Fenty Beauty global makeup artist Priscilla Ono. “That red stage called for the ultimate Rihanna red lip,” says Ono, who used the new Fenty Beauty Icon Velvet Liquid Lipstick in “The MVP.” Her bold lip moment was accented by a set of silver glitter wings and, of course, her signature Bad Gal glow, the latter of which she touched up mid-performance with a blot of her Fenty Beauty Invisimatte Instant Setting powder. Furthering the theme of her crimson look, Rihanna topped everything off with a glossy red manicure by nail artist Kimmie Kyees using CND’s Devil Red.
All in all, savage was the word. Would you expect anything less from RiRi?
