Bonjour, Paris. We’re back in the City of Light, this time for the fall/winter 2026 season. If the spring/summer 2026 calendar saw a roster of exciting designer debuts, then this is the season of sophomores. Arguably more important than the first, it’s one where each designer will have to cement their directions, and shape what their creative vision will look like moving forward. It’s in Paris then, that we’ll be seeing more of Jonathan Anderson‘s vision for Dior‘s womenswear, Matthieu Blazy’s refreshed outlook for Chanel, as well as Pierpaolo Piccioli’s propositions for Balenciaga. It’ll also be the last Alaïa show from Pieter Mulier, who will be stepping into his new role at Versace later this year.
Alas, the season kicks off strong as always—with Dior and Saint Laurent. On the first night of Paris, Anthony Vaccarello returned to form, with a sharp focus on Yves Saint Laurent’s Le Smoking, the tuxedo which redefined eveningwear for women everywhere. Meanwhile, Jonathan Anderson proved his prowess with a collection that felt as weightless as the serene scene he composed around his showgoers. In creams and pistachios, the palette was adorned a light touch, whilst noughties elements rang through.
So what of the street set? The showgoers in Paris will never miss an opportunity to slip into their best. With the sun out and about in the French capital, most left their coats behind. Out came breezy dresses and lightweight, tailored layers—some doused in florals, others done in plaid. In terms of the colour palette, it was a signalling of spring in vivid hues and prints, with the occasional statement accessory perfect for the season.
