New York Fashion Week has officially kicked off with a strong start for spring/summer 2026, in the lead up to this season’s exciting rotation of designer debuts. Historic houses including Chanel, Mugler, Jean Paul Gaultier and Jil Sander are unveiling debut collections under newly appointed creative directors. This is drawing audiences from around the world, in anticipation of a new era. But before all eyes turn toward what this new wave of musical chairs in fashion will bring, the scene is first set in the Big Apple. Following Ralph Lauren’s off-calendar show, Michael Kors opened the floor with new hopes for spring—in the good spirit of escapism—bringing forth earthy, tonal hues that acclimate to the ever-changing weather, via breathable, billowing fabrics.
Veronica Leoni showed up with her sophomore collection for Calvin Klein—cementing her renewed vision for the house, by abiding by its longstanding minimalist legacy as well as her sensual and intimate portrayal of what everyday wear would look like in New York City. At her front row? Nothing short of rousing, courtesy of ambassador Jungkook from BTS as well as other famed names like Rosalía, Lily Collins and rising star The Summer I Turned Pretty’s Christopher Briney.
Safe to say, along with the celebrity set, street stylers made sure to put their best (fashion) foot forward. From tailored and relaxed suits to flowy skirts paired with bright pops of colour, the Big Apple crowd brought their fashion A game. There was a nod to the revival of the boho trend as well as softer, airier silhouettes filing the streets.
