The Macallan Harmony Collection has long been a prominent touchstone of the brand’s storied relationship with nature. Each edition of the annual limited series honours a distinct and sustainable element of The Macallan’s craftsmanship process. The first, born from a partnership with the Roca brothers, recycled discarded husks from cacao pods for packaging, while the second was a sensorial journey through the world of coffee. The third and latest celebrated the soils of Scotland with Stella and Mary McCartney, turning meadow cuttings into boxes and labels.
For the fourth edition, the humble oak takes centre stage. Oak runs through every facet of The Macallan. Its exceptional sherry seasoned oak casks are critical to the extraordinary quality, distinctive aromas and flavours of its single malt Scotch whisky. Each cask is precisely crafted over a period of five years, and is at the core of imparting The Macallan’s signature flavour and natural colour.
The newest installation to the Harmony Collection comes in the form of the Harmony Vibrant Oak. The product of the matured combination of first fill sherry seasoned American oak casks and refill sherry casks, it boasts a medium, sweet finish that delicately lingers. The whisky delivers intense vanilla bean, sweet sherbet and lime zest on the nose, giving way to the tantalising tastes of creamy vanilla panna cotta, buttery shortbread, lightly toasted coconut with almond brittle, apple and sweet oak.
On the sustainability front, The Macallan does not leave a single trace of waste behind. Oak chippings, a by-product created while making its oak casks, are repurposed as display boxes and bottle labels, in a mark of deep reverence for our environment.
This new release comes hand in hand with The Macallan’s collaboration with Cirque du Soleil. Beginning in the breathtaking debut of ‘Spirit’—a nature-inspired experience which premiered earlier this year at The Macallan Estate in Speyside, amalgamating The Macallan’s whisky mastery with Cirque du Soleil’s iconic artistry—the new expression honours the collaboration through vignettes pictured on the vibrant packaging.
A dynamic gold hue reveals a stunning depiction of Ayla, a key character from ‘Spirit’, in a detailed intertwine with the branches of an American oak tree. More than just an illustration, each element is symbolic—the tree represents sherry-seasoned American oak casks while peacock feathers reflect the natural tones of The Macallan. Captured within is the importance of harmony between the natural world and human experience—an ethos that The Macallan has held close to heart throughout its 200-year history.
