As the holiday season swiftly approaches, nostalgia sets in and we find ourselves reminiscing over key moments from the year. 2024 was one for the books for fashion, as we bid farewell to several of fashion’s greatest minds following the departures of Pierpaolo Piccioli, Dries Van Noten, and John Galliano from their respective houses. We also said goodbye to the quiet luxury style trend that pervaded everyone’s social media timelines last year, and with it ushering in the return of an eclectic late ’80s and early ’00s maximalism. Micro trends such as bag charms, wedge sneakers and cropped capri pants were sartorial favourites this year, their influence cemented by the approval of celebrities and style mavens worldwide.
Here at Vogue Singapore, we took this time to look inwards, celebrating our wins both big and small. There was our March issue featuring renowned Malaysian cosplayer Hakken as the late fashion icon Tina Chow, our April cover that saw Pop star Charli XCX lensed by the iconic Nick Knight, and four trailblazing models from around the region for October. We also celebrated our fourth-year anniversary with the second iteration of our landmark event Next In Vogue, held at the historic Capitol Kempinski Singapore.
With so much time spent looking at and obsessing over fashion, which pieces caught our attention outside of work? There was certainly plenty of pondering—and brooding—over several dream buys this year, each encapsulating everything there is to love about this fantastical world. Below, the team each share their ultimate fashion purchase; from theatrical statement designs to archival pieces of history, and everything in between.

“I learned this year that I am not so immune, after all, to the charms of a Chanel bag. My lust for tweed grows, but at the moment this little beauty has my attention: all black shiny calfskin, no quilting, and gold hardware—so severely chic.”

Fashion wishlist pick: Tiffany & Co. Elsa Peretti Split ring, $1,400
“Undeniably, a piece of jewellery that is enduring through the ages, the Elsa Peretti Split ring’s beauty lies in its sculptural shape and the startling silver that glistens from every angle over its curvature. By taking the form of one’s finger, this particular piece has been on my mind since I tried it on at the store—and still eagerly waiting on that text back on my ideal size.”
Available at Tiffany & Co..

Fashion wishlist pick: Alexander McQueen knuckle clutch in multicolour, S$10,350
“Despite my usually minimal tastes, I’ve admired the theatrical accessories from Alexander McQueen for several years now. And to me, none encapsulates their flamboyant DNA so much as their knuckle clutches. This season it’s this multicolour design—featuring colourful, ‘exploded flower’ embroidery—that is catching my eye.”

Fashion wishlist pick: Schiaparelli haute couture spring/summer 2024 dress
“Owning something couture, made-to-measure, that fits perfectly and is one-of-a-kind is definitely on my wishlist. While many pieces from Schiaparelli are on my radar, the ultimate would be a beautiful gown, like this incredible satin dress with an aerodynamic bow. I’d wear it exactly like this, with the resin and rhinestone earring too. Perfection!”

Fashion wishlist pick: Simone Rocha crystal buckle ballerina sneakers, $1,244
“I absolutely love the idea of ballet sneakers, and this pair from Simone Rocha ticks all the right boxes. It’s the perfect amount of chunky, and its cross-cross straps add an extra touch of femininity. It may look understated at first glance, but the devil is in the details—from the pleats at the front, to the buckles embellished with pearls and crystals.”
