Hermès did not disappoint with its spring/summer 2021 collection. The French luxury house, under the direction of Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski, staged their runway show to a socially distanced audience in Paris, but the elegant ideas of the house definitely resonated. For the new season, a renewed sense of ease and languidity wound itself throughout the collection—think, elevated clothes to move, and to go about your daily life. Long, loose pants, comforting coats and silky separates nailed this theme on the head.
Another theme of the collection, the body-skimming clothes were also an intentional statement from the house. “Tactility has been taken away from us,” Vanhee-Cybulski told Vogue. “I wanted the fantasy of touching. I think it’s important to keep that somehow.” Whether this took its form in seductive tops that looked as if they were moulded onto the model’s body, or luscious, leather skirts, the close, almost-second skin tightness conjured up an irresistible image of French sexiness.
Here, we look at seven of the most alluring ideas from the Hermès spring/summer 2021 collection.
