In our July/August ‘Cravings’ issue, it’s all about the things we unabashedly want to indulge in—even if we sometimes know we shouldn’t. Gone is our usual list of carefully curated book or film recommendations. Instead, the Vogue Singapore team shares their personal guilty pleasures, from the animes they’ve grown up on, to the reality television shows they can’t help but love.

Desmond Lim, editor-in-chief: Bridget Jones’s Diary
“I have watched this so many times, I could probably deliver every momentous line said by Renée Zellweger on cue. In some ways, I am a closet Bridget—goofy, oblivious and self-loathing when it comes to romance.”

Janice Sim, digital editor: Pitbull
“Put on any one of Mr Worldwide’s greatest hits in a room and I’ll be there in a heartbeat. To this day, I still know the lyrics to ‘Hotel Room Service’ by heart and that somehow fills me with equal parts shame and pride.”

Nicholas See, stylist: Yu Yu Hakusho
“A solid showing of a shounen anime, Yu Yu Hakusho is an easy watch that has resonated with me since my childhood. The series is pure action. Its simple, unpretentious format of episodic clashes between supernatural forces of good and evil (with many plot loopholes) makes it a guilty pleasure for me.”

Azrin Tan, senior digital writer: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas
“If you know, you know. Known as #BookTok’s most popular ‘romantasy’ series, this was the book that got me back into reading—and had me gripped from start to end. Think fantastical world-building, immortal (and gorgeous) faeries and a really, really gratifying enemies-to-lovers plot.”

Chandreyee Ray, associate lifestyle editor: The Nursery Nurse
“My daily 3am watch is a highly addictive TikTok one-woman show by content creator Charlotte Henderson. Henderson expertly plays over eight distinctive characters as she depicts the hilarious and sometimes frustrating scenarios that take place in a childcare centre. What got me hooked? The unexpected addition of a few sizzling romance plots (à la Bridgerton) and thrilling storylines.”

Maya Menon, fashion features editor: The Real Housewives
“I’ve been hooked on this Bravo series ever since I watched an episode in 2008. There are dynasties, decade-long friendships and fun trips that often turn into disasters. There’s also something especially addictive about watching fashion trends play out in real time. Special mention goes to Sonja Morgan—she has always been my favourite and she’s so chic.”

Jesslyn Lye, writer: Mean Girls the Musical
“Every song in this musical is so catchy, but the lyrics are what amaze me. “I’m astounded and nonplussed, I am filled with calculust” from ‘Stupid With Love’ is poetic genius. I will unironically sing this at the top of my lungs in karaoke.”

Bryan Ho, fashion features writer: Modern Family
“There is a certain level of comfort I derive from watching something 100 times over, and this bedtime ritual is my preferred way to decompress after a long day. My favourite character from the series is Phil Dunphy. His constant optimism and naivety towards the world is moving and is perhaps something I can adopt in my personal life.”
