It’s time to tick another awards show off this year’s list, with the 66th Grammy Awards marking the start of a brand new month. One of the few major award shows held annually in the music industry, the Grammys honour only the most elite musical works and accomplishments, and this year’s rendition saw a proudly female-dominated season. Leading the industry’s top honours was Taylor Swift, whose fourth album of the year award broke a historical record. Winning song of the year and record of the year was Billie Eilish and Miley Cyrus respectively, and pop-R&B musician Victoria Monét was named best new artist. These big names barely spell out the true extent of female power showcased tonight, as countless artists—SZA, Olivia Rodrigo and Phoebe Bridgers, amongst others—were nominated for multiple categories. But what else stood out at the Grammy Awards 2024? Show-stopping works of art. That is, the beauty looks served on the red carpet.
Attention-grabbing, voluminous hairstyles from blow-outs to bangs were spotted performing harmoniously alongside elegant make-up as the artists made their entrance. A special mention goes out to Janelle Monáe’s crisp pixie cut styled with coils, which prominently reigned apart from the crowd. Repeated sightings of classy, chic red lips on the exquisite likes of Taylor Swift, Laverne Cox and Doja Cat caught our eye as well. To cover all bases, the blush department made an equally grand showing on the young talent Ayra Starr.
The night’s runway allure rendered this year’s Grammys more than worthy of towering over other awards shows in the beauty sphere, and Vogue Singapore was hard-pressed to choose our favourites. Below, our curation of the best hair and make-up moments from the Grammy Awards 2024.
