Ganni came over all alt-rock for fall/winter 2022, as husband and wife duo Ditte and Nicolaj Reffstrup staged a concert film in the heart of Copenhagen. Streamed around the world at satellite parties chock full of Ganni girls, the new collection will have you fangirling the Scandi brand and everything it stands for all over again. Here, five things to know about the Ganni fall/winter 2022 collection.

Girl power is on the agenda
PJ Harvey and Björk were Ditte’s teen heroines. “They carried me through a lot,” she says of growing up in a small Danish fishing village and marching to the beat of her own drum. Relistening to the powerhouse females during lockdown, Reffstrup was struck by the way “they both have this ability to be super fragile and vulnerable as well as channelling a kiss-ass jump-around-the-room energy.” That vibe–“super feminine, but full of power and confidence”–mirrors that of the Ganni gang and so, for autumn/winter 2022, everything in Reffstrup’s sphere came together in one harmonious riot of colour, lace and diamanté flowers.

Ganni goes oh-so-’90s
“The ’90s feeling shines though, from grungy tartan checks, snake print and spray-paint florals in darker tones to super-short skirts and high-shaft cowboy boots,” says Reffstrup of the optimistic edit designed to cater to that “rush from seeing the world open up again.” To facilitate the Björk-ish styling, ribbons run throughout the collection and can be tied into sweet bows or knotted for DIY flair. The new pillow-shaped bags in recycled nylon are the perfect lightweight, squishy companions to take to gigs, while the Mary Janes are guaranteed to have you dancing all night.

Copenhagen’s Jada headlined the show
In keeping with the alternative mood of the music-inspired collection, the Reffstrups staged a concert film at VEGA with Copenhagen’s brightest pop export, Jada, modelling the Gannified stage wear. “It was so much fun to merge my musical universe with Ganni’s visual fantasies,” says Jada. “To me, being a Ganni girl means having fun and being free when you dress up. It’s about the creativity and excitement in life.” Mission accomplished.

The Reffstrups spread the love around
Of course, Denmark’s party-hard brand did not forget about their loyal fans across the globe. Screenings of the show were staged in London, New York and Paris so that everyone could bop along to Ganni’s new look and enjoy the escapism that only a live concert can provide. The UK’s own pizza party had insiders discussing who would do the sheer autumn/winter 2022 looks first and how many pairs of the cowboy boots we could all conceivably pre-order.

Ganni gigs are always responsible
Cocktails and clubbing aside, Ganni’s focus, as ever, was on creating responsible fashion. Almost all the show looks are marked as responsible, meaning at least 50 per cent of the material used is classified as certified organic, lower-impact or recycled. “That’s massive for us,” says Ditte in no uncertain terms. As the leader of the Scandi fashion pack, where Ganni goes, others will follow. This is great news for the future of fashion.
