What’s a fresh start to the year without new arm candy? Thankfully, with the resort season just hitting shelves, options abound. Case in point: French luxury brand Dior has given us a reason to saunter into the season with its latest offering—the Caro.
First introduced on Dior’s resort 2021 runway in a stunning tie dye incarnation, the bag line is a tribute to Christian Dior’s younger sister Catherine, who was a huge influence in the couturier’s life. Legend has it that the designer named his signature Miss Dior perfume for Caro, as his younger sister was known to friends and family.
It’s fitting then, that such a legend of the house be paid homage to with a bag of her own: handcrafted in the house’s Italian ateliers, the bag comes in two sizes—small, measuring at 20cm x 12cm x 7cm; and large, which measures at 28cm x 17cm x 9cm. In addition to the tie-dyed runway version, the bag line has also been fleshed out with the house’s iconic cannage motif on buttery soft calf leather, as well as a chic raw denim and cosy shearling offering.
Reflecting Maria Grazia Chiuri‘s dreamy vision for resort 2021, held in the historically rich area of Puglia, Italy, the colours pay homage to the region with soothing colours: sky blue, mint and compass rose. More classic colours such as black, grey, beige and ivory are also available.
