A billet-doux to the serenity of Deauville, Chanel’s fall/winter 2024 ready-to-wear collection is a dreamy reimagination of the maison’s signature codes. Marrying romance and adventure, the collection captures the scenic allure of the French coast, alongside Deauville’s dynamic skyscape.
The collection handsomely illustrates the juxtaposition of the ‘20’s and ‘70’s, a picturesque fusion of the two eras, proven by a graceful blend of masculine and feminine features. The pivotal tweed suit is refreshed; paired with pleated skirts, culottes and cropped trousers, complete with broad-shouldered peacoats and lush belted coats. The lineup exquisitely rethinks archetypal Chanel designs, its pieces lying at the intersection of custom meets modernity.
A warm palette reminiscent of dazzling sunset shades, the lineup’s pieces are inspired by Deauville’s ethereal skies. Soothing cerulean blues and mauves are complemented by a range of pinks from the brightest fuschia to the gentlest blush. Further saturating the palette are glowing bursts of orange, balanced by rich tones of gold and brown.
Silk blouses adorned with sailor collars and chevrons infuse a playful nautical hint into the collection, and chunky knit jumpers beautified with Deauville’s landscapes lend a youthful charm. Flowy dresses and luxurious jumpsuits offer an ethereal touch to the array, while low-cut tops with flounces further add to to the femininity of the collection.
The classicality extends to the collection’s accessories, further elevating the ensembles. Pastel wide-brimmed hats are a notable highlight, quintessential of the luxury house’s tailored heritage. Thigh-high sheepskin boots put a contemporary spin on the maison’s hallmark silhouettes, a sartorial ode to cinematic luminary Anouk Aimée.
