We’ve seen the beauty realm evolve in a multitude of ways over the past decade. Long gone are the days when celebrity beauty ops would be dedicated solely to the red carpet with techniques used often obscured from the public eye. We’ve fast moved on to an aspirational age of social media: how-to tutorials by the professional artists themselves, established content creators sharing their own cosmetic hacks and even full-face routines by some of the biggest A-listers. And we’ve all emerged the better for it.
It’s undeniable—the likes of Instagram and TikTok have given us all a space for unabashed self-expression. And for some, an artfully made-up mien or a customised change of talons are the perfect canvases to do so. Pop culture has had significant influence in the sphere; with entire visuals modelled after those seen in HBO’s hit drama Euphoria, creatively materialised by make-up artist, Donni Davy. Experimentation is abound, with novice creators and popular personalities alike attempting to ace a make-up look that is all the rage or share a thematic one-off look for others to recreate.
Then begs the question: how do we sieve out the best of all? Make-up trends surely begin somewhere, and learning from our seasoned celebrities is never a bad place to start if you’re feeling overwhelmed. Vogue Singapore might be of help to you on that front—with our monthly curation of captivating beauty moments, courtesy of our favourite faces from Hollywood, the K-pop scene and more, just for that fresh jazz of inspiration.
We started 2024 with a bang, as January brought with it a slew of awards shows and red carpet outings. Naturally, celebrity-favoured MUAs and hairstylists delivered their A-game—in deliciously elegant make-up looks and thoughtfully-sculpted updos seen on the likes of Greta Lee, Elizabeth Debicki and Riley Keough. It was also prime time for the younger set of the industry to make a statement: think Mean Girls‘s Avantika at the film’s premiere and Ariana Greenblatt of Barbie pulling a Y2K moment at the BAFTA Tea Party. Couture season also played out this month, which meant a great deal of A-listers stepped out in avant-garde style to take their seats in the front row. Case in point? Zendaya’s micro-bangs paired to an equestrian train gown at the Schiaparelli show. Luscious red pouts seem to be making a return in the beauty world, with a number of brands making the scarlet shade a focal point of their celeb-led campaigns, such as Jennie for Hera Beauty and Dilraba Dilmurat for Dior.
Feast your eyes on the full assortment of this month’s best celeb beauty moments, below.

Avantika
Get in loser, this mean girl is here to slay. Avantika may play Karen in the latest adaptation of the Mean Girls musical but she most definitely knew what she was doing at the film’s premiere—paying ode to old Bollywood glamour whilst giving it a spot-on, contemporary twist with that smear of pink on her lids.

Zendaya
The anticipation for Dune hangs heavily in the air, and Zendaya might have just given us an Easter egg as to what we should be expecting for her press tour looks. Think futuristic micro-bangs worthy of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi universe.

Riley Keoghan
Riley Keough stunned in a Chanel couture gown for Emmys night, but the cherry on top just might have been the supersized bow she weaved into her ponytail for the evening.

Jennie
On the lips, and on the cheeks. Jennie bleeds red for Hera Beauty’s latest Seoul Red campaign for its Rouge Classy lip line—for a tone-on-tone look that is contrasted against her jet-black ensemble and manicure.

Hairstylist Dionne Smith was the woman behind the magic that was Calah Lane’s gravity-defying mane at the Critics Choice Awards—one that was on the up and up.

A moment befitting of the Palace of Versailles: Anya Taylor-Joy with a twisted updo, smoked-out lids and a mauve lip, walking in like a princess about to be bequeathed with her crown.

Doja Cat
A tad of metallica brushed under her brows and over lids—paired with the Bayonetta glasses that’s been making its rounds all over the Internet. And that’s how Doja Cat enters the chat in 2024.
